Teresa’s Aviary Thank you for so many gratifying comments from last week’s report about attending the Grammys. This week’s boost is about an extraordinary exhibit of birds created by my beloved, Teresa Jordan. And then a few more words about the Grammy’s and more ruminations on music.
I admire your openness to exploring other forms of music outside of your comfort zone. I struggle with trying to break out of my smug narrow tastes, yet I seriously doubt I’ll ever be able to see contemporary “ country” music as anything more than bad pop with hats.
My Oldsmobile days ended in 1968 when I got a 64 VW Bug. Had almost every model since (Not the new ones Crap),Buses, Vanagons, Square backs, Rabbits (have three Caddys), Jetta's. My dream car now is a IRS Manx buggy. Haven't found one I want to spend the money on though. Have a 89 Bronco 2 for hauling and off road. Sorry to bust your bubble! Would like a 8N. Did I see somewhere that you had one or was it just your dad's?
The art, words and music here have such a calming effect on me. I understand your references to murmuring, Hal...as in Laman and Lemuel murmuring against their father because they knew not the dealings of God... My sister and I always thought the word so effective - when we were just kids we'd go around the house with a tight jaw muttering, "murmur, murmur," when we were displeased with anything. We were quite irreverent. I appreciate seeing the word in a new light thanks to your video. Quite stirring!
